The 1+1 Villa in Nowshahr represents an innovative response to the challenge of vertical expansion within the existing built fabric of northern Iran. The client’s request to add a fully independent unit atop an existing villa became an opportunity to redefine small-scale sustainable development through design precision and structural ingenuity.

Instead of demolishing the original building, the design team at DASH Architects proposed a lightweight, self-supporting steel structure elevated above the existing sloped roof. This new framework rests on peripheral micro-piles, ensuring structural stability while minimizing ground disturbance and load transfer to the existing villa.

Architecturally, the project combines an exposed structural language with minimal, modern volumes, where material, color, and function are seamlessly integrated. The new villa—accessed independently—features open terraces and transparent façades, creating a suspended dwelling that floats between sky and landscape.

The 1+1 Villa embodies DASH Architects’ approach to intelligent growth: balancing respect for the existing context with the courage to innovate, crafting architecture that is simultaneously technical, elegant, and future-oriented.
